Well, it’s that time of year again. We’ve finally began seeing the first faunal signs of spring poking through the dirt and a sense of joy and contention is slowly filling the world around us. This is the time that all of us at Appalachian Outdoors really relishes. And this year, very much like previous years, we’d like to celebrate and invite all of you to our annual Spring Expo, which will be held on Saturday April 11th from 10:00 AM all the way to 6:00 PM.

A day jam packed with excitement, our Spring Expo is loaded with all types of things and info to get everyone ready for the warm, fun weather headed our way. And that’s why I feel as though it’s a pretty good idea to let everyone out there know about all of the cool stuff going on at Appalachian Outdoors for our Expo.

So without any additional hold up, here’s five reasons why you should come on down to our Spring Expo. After all, we only have one a year.

1. A Warm Spring Day

As per the 10-day forecast (yes, I do know that that can be about as predictable as a shooting star, but I have a good feeling about this one), it looks like Saturday the 11th is shaping up to be a nice and warm spring day. What better way to spend it than wandering around the beautiful town of State College and into Appalachian Outdoors? And who knows, you may end up walking away with some awesome and free spring merchandise.

2. Prizes and Giveaways

You heard it right; we’ll be giving away all sorts of free stuff. From hourly raffle bags, spring product lotteries, all the way down to our poker chip drawings that will take 10-100% off of each of your purchases; we’ll have all sorts of ways to outfit you for the spring season without breaking the bank.

3. Talk to our Vendor Reps

A great deal of our vendors will be sending their reps out to our store for the Expo. From The North Face, Patagonia, Adidas, Darn Tough and many others, there’s sure to be an expert here from your favorite brand. So now’s the time to probe our reps and clear up those burning questions that you’ve had about technology, products, the brands themselves, and anything else that you can think of.

4. See New Products and Technology in Action

All day long, we and our reps will be demoing new products, showing off all types of cool technology, and filling you in on what’s to come this season. If you’re looking for someone to teach you how to properly load your pack, how to choose the right shoe for the right activity, or simply see how things like a fuel powered stove works, then come on down and see all of this cool stuff in action.

5. Demonstrations of all Types

For all of the fly fishers wanting to shoot the angling breeze, tie a few flies, or simply looking to stock up on a few patterns for the opening day, myself and fellow employee Paul will be tying flies all day long. And the best part of this is that we’ll be giving them away as we tie.

Not only will flies be churned out all day long, but hiking mastermind Scott Adams will be at our expo to discuss his books and Pennsylvania hiking as well as signing some autographs.

And if that just isn’t enough for you, then you’ll love trying your hand…and feet at Salewa’s bouldering table. Even better than some good ol’ fashion competition, the winner of this table will take home a free pair of Salewa shoes.
