If you haven’t heard, we’re having our Fall Expo this Saturday from 10-6!
In preparation of our Fall Expo, I thought it’d be a good idea to cover all of the main draws of the event. Shameless promotion? Maybe. But with a day full of events, deals, and giveaways, plus the addition of the 14th Annual Fall Festival happening downtown at the exact same time, I thought it’d be beneficial to give you an idea of what exactly will be happening at Appalachian Outdoors. This way, you can plan your day around a pretty busy Saturday.
So without further ado, here are the 5 reasons you need to come to our Fall Expo.
1. Jay Paterno Book Signing and Q&A
We’re thrilled and honored to host Jay Paterno for a special book signing and Q&A session. Jay will be stopping by Appalachian Outdoors at 3:00 PM to talk about his book, Paterno Legacy: Enduring Lessons from the Life and Death of My Father. And while this may not tie directly to the outdoor industry, Appalachian Outdoors has always been a part of the State College and Penn State community, and we couldn’t think of a family that exemplifies this connection better than the Paternos. Penn State’s football team may be on a bye this week, but you can still get your football fix with us!
2. Talk with Vendor Reps
Many of our biggest vendors are sending their very own representatives to highlight and discuss their products. Some of these vendors include The North Face, Patagonia, MSR, Prana, Outdoor Research, Olukai, and many more! You’ll be able to hear them talk about their entire product line and ask them specific questions. Thinking of picking up a new sleeping bag or jacket? Talk to the guys and gals who work for the vendor to find out which product is perfect for you.
3. Product Demos
Throughout the entire day, we’ll be demoing several of our most popular products. Whether you’re looking to see how to set up a tent, how to properly load a pack, or how to set up your new camping stove, we’d be happy to show you. In fact, some of the dealers may put on their own demos themselves.
If you’re looking for a more hands-on activity that you can take part of, Levi will have an interactive fly tying demonstration set up throughout the day for all of you fly fishers out there. Whether you want to try your hand at tying flies or just want to chat about the sport, Levi will be there for you. Even if you’re only looking to score some free flies, stop by Levi’s table and take a few flies for your next trip.
4. Poker Chip Deals
Every purchase you make in store will be discounted anywhere from 10-100%. How will you know what discount you earned? Simple. When you check out, you’ll be asked to draw a poker chip. Depending on the color you pull, your entire order will be discounted at least 10%, but the order could also be completely free. That’s right. Wear your luckiest outfit and bring your luckiest rabbit’s food, and we may be paying for your entire order!
5. Raffle and Giveaways
Throughout the day, we’ll have plenty of giveaways to add to your bag, completely free of charge for you. Many of our biggest vendors have provided several pieces of swag to hand out. All you have to do is get here early to have the best pick of the items and purchase an item in store. When you’re done buying, we’ll toss a freebie of your choice in your bag.
If you’re feeling generous and lucky, you’ll definitely want to take part of our raffle. We’ll have several of our most popular products up for grabs including jackets, shoes, hats, and much more. We’ll get you hooked up with your first raffle ticket, but you can certainly buy more. All proceeds of this raffle will be donated to a local charity, so you’ll be able to rest easy after you’ve won your prize knowing you helped a worthy cause.
As you can see, we’ll have a lot going on all day. Whether you’re coming in to take advantage of our special discounts, learn more about products from our vendors’ reps, or want to hear Jay Paterno talk about JoePa, we’ll have something for you.
