Wildwood Chalet and Cottage

What an amazing weekend!!!

We were able to stay at the Wildwood Cottage at Raystown Lake, and I must say, the accommodations were phenomenol.  Tucked away just 4 minutes from the lake, this cottage provided 10 adults and children with more than enough room to eat, sleep, play, ride, kayak, relax and celebrate!  Not to mention the beds were very cozy, so we felt well rested each morning to go on an adventure.

The cottage is less than 4 minutes from the Allegrippis Trailhead.  This picture was taken from the Mushroom lot before we took off on a 15 mile ride through some of the best mountain biking our area has to offer!

During the day, we had many things to get into at the cabin.  Because the cottage was so comfortable, the children were at ease, and everyone could eat, drink and be merry.  We grilled on the provided propane grill which had enough space on it to cook for everyone.  It also has an open kitchen with a very nice sized refrigerator to fit everyone’s food.  A dishwasher made washing the dishes a cinch, and we did not need anything disposable, which made our footprint even greener.

There are trails right out of the backyard that you can hike or bike on, and there is a stream running in front of the cottage.  My kids loved going to the stream, because we saw frogs, fish, cray fish and more wildlife.  I always appreciate an opportunity to share nature with my children.

Of course, you can’t have a weekend at a cottage in the woods without a campfire!  We had mountain pies and smores cooking multiple times throughout the weekend, and they were delicious!  Nothing beats good people, good food, and good times around a fire at night!

So if you’re looking for a weekend getaway with the family or a place for your friends to gather and go on an adventure, the Wildwood Cottage and Chalet is the place!  In case you are wondering, there is a Cottage and a Chalet available for rent, we were able to get the Cottage which worked out great.  There is a trail that connects the Cottage to the Chalet, so you could rent both and get from one to the other without ever getting in a car!

Big thanks to Pam and Bob for letting us stay, we absolutely loved it!!!  So much in fact that we are planning another trip soon, we can’t stay away from Raystown for too long!!
