Known as one of the pioneers of releasable bindings, Marker is a ski company that started their adventure in 1952 with Hannes Marker at the helm. Founding his company at at time when skiing was heavily dominated by non-releasable bindings and an excess of injuries, Hannes found himself wondering how he can improve these bindings to allow for a more fluid and safe release. By 1953, Hannes introduced the "Duplex Toe" to their bindings and then followed up with their "Simplex" design. Both technologies were able to reduce injury and allow the skier to quickly release themselves from their bindings and skis during a fall. Since those initial innovations, Marker continued to craft products and technologies that made the life of a skier much more convenient. Nowadays, Marker continues along their original path of redesigning and creating breakthroughs in the ski world as well as the outdoor apparel world with the addition of a clothing line.
