Five on Fridays: Plaid Shirts for Women

by Jacob Gordon

You may recall a few weeks ago we did a Five on Friday for men’s plaid shirts, and I thought it would be nice to give the ladies some love. After all, there’s no better combination than a crisp fall day and a nice plaid shirt.

As you might guess from looking at our website and around the store, we have a pretty big crush on plaid shirts. Employees have made it part of the uniform, and we as a store offer a much larger variety than five versions of plaid shirts. So for this Five on Friday, I’m going to keep it simple: five plaid shirts that offer something unique, be it style, technology, or feel.

1. Columbia Sportswear Simply Put II Flannel Shirt

The Simply Put II Flannel Shirt from Columbia may have a simple, classic design, but the unique color scheme of each shirt brings it to the modern day. Made from 100% cotton flannel, the Simply Put II Flannel is soft to the touch, but does a nice job of keeping you warm on mild fall days. For the girl who wants a simple shirt with a fun design, you can’t go wrong with the Simply Put II Flannel.

2. Woolrich The Pemberton Shirt

If there’s one thing Woolrich does great, it’s a comfy plaid shirt, and The Pemberton Shirt is no different. The Pemberton offers a more feminine cut and design, making it clear this isn’t your boyfriend’s or husband’s plaid shirt simply shrunken; it was designed for you. The 100% pebble-washed cotton is super soft and offers The Pemberton great versatility as a stand-alone shirt or a layering piece on crisper days.

3. Volcom Brawl Long Sleeve Shirt

When Volcom enters the plaid shirt realm, you know it can’t look like any other plaid shirt on the market. The Brawl Long Sleeve Shirt from Volcom gives you a bold black and white plaid shirt that contrasts in the right ways with your wardrobe. The brushed cotton flannel is perfect for wearing on chilly nights at the pub or club, and you’ll especially love the way it lays against your skin.

4. The North Face Pomaria Plaid Shirt

The Pomaria Plaid Shirt from The North Face is a great plaid shirt that works just as well on your favorite trail as it does around the office. The cotton herringbone fabric of the Pomaria is breathable yet durable, and the plaid design is vibrant, ensuring you stand out in a crowd. During those fall days when the temps start cool but continue to climb, you’re sure to love the roll-up sleeves that add a bit of adaptability to the Pomaria.

5. Columbia Sportswear Saturday Trail Flannel Shirt

The Saturday Trail Flannel Shirt from Columbia Sportswear takes the hike-or-work friendly attitude of the Pomaria add amplifies it further. The women’s-active cut of the Saturday Trail Flannel shirt gives you a sporty, streamlined fit that pairs nicely with the checkered design. Ideal for trails or hectic urban adventures, Columbia has equipped the Saturday Trail Flannel Shirt with their Omni-Wick fabric, which helps move moisture to keep you dryer and more comfortable.  There’s even a hint of spandex in the fabric blend that keeps you nice and mobile.
