K2 is a ski company from Vashon Island in Washington state's beautiful Puget Sound that's been at the craft for decades. Started by two brothers named, Bill and Don Kirschner, K2's name was created out of a combination of the two brother's last name and the second largest mountain in the world. After starting the company, the Kirschner brothers kickstarted the brand's popularity by paving the way with fiberglass skis that were light and durable. As interest in their brand grew, K2 entered a wave of demand that lead to the brand expanding as well as one of their prototypes finishing first in a World Cup giant slalom. For the next few decades, K2 continued to grow in popularity and demand, and today, they offer some of the best skis, boots, poles, helmets, and accessories on the market.
