With over a hundred years of experience, Mammut is a brand that's been able to pave the way for high-quality climbing gear. Beginning their story as a mountaineering rope company in the year 1862 out of Switzerland, Mammut was founded by Kaspar Tanner after he found a passion for building quality ropes. Following their success for a few decades, Mammut was able to grow from a small family production to a much larger scale. By 1950, Mammut made one of the best innovations for climbing at the time with their construction of the first rope made from nylon. Continuing to innovate, Mammut expanded their line to include clothing in the 70s and sleeping bags by the year 1981. For the next couple decades, Mammut underwent some ownership changes, but in 2003, they produced one of the best avalanche transceivers on the market with their Pulse Barryvox. This transceiver is still favored today, and is great representation of how timeless Mammut and their products have been since the company began over a century ago.
