A true mountain legend, Patrick Smith started Mountainsmith's adventure in the year 1970 whenever he was spending a lot of his time in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. During his time spent outside, Patrick found a need for gear that was durable and could stand up to the harsh conditions of the backcountry. Being unable to find anything on the market, Patrick's initial brainchild was the first fully rigid backcountry ski sled that was able to carry a great deal of weight. Finding success in this design, Patrick put a patent on the design and started to distribute more products under the Mountainsmith name. From their original pack design, Mountainsmith has expanded to offer a ton of products for the outdoors from lumbar packs, daypacks, trekking poles, camera bags, and a ton of other products. So the next time you're gearing up to get outside, be sure to add one of Mountainsmith's high-quality products into the mix.
