The North Face Summit Series was developed in conjunction with top rock and mountain climbers, from Lisa Rands to Conrad Anker, and it's not uncommon to spot Summit Series gear on summits all over the world. Lightweight warmth is the order of the day and because this stuff is designed to be used on major expeditions in very difficult conditions, the waterproof jackets and pants have to be tough as well. We're talking seriously top-of-the-line, bombproof clothing.
The down jackets in the Summit series are very popular and with good reason. They're practical but pretty stylish too- you can wear one into a Chamonix restaurant or while you're belaying a climbing partner, with the same level of comfort and confidence. They offer a good compromise between weight and durability and there are designs to suit everyone.
The range contains more or less all the clothing you need to stay warm and perform at your best in demanding conditions, including gloves and mitts, fleecy mid-layer tops, and low-profile beanies perfect for use under a helmet or inside a hood. The beanies are also great as backups- because they're so light and pack down so well, you can leave one in your backpack just in case.
